Garden club member, Dr Jane Packard, will take us through the restoration process of the Los Altos heritage apricot orchard, deemed a historical landmark. In 2024, hundreds of young Blenheim apricot trees were planted in the city's 10- acre orchard and a new drip irrigation system was installed. The orchard is officially titled the Gilbert Smith Heritage Apricot Orchard, named after the orchardist who laid down roots in the area at the turn of the last century. The Smith family donated the property to the city.
